Florida Association of Business Tax Officials

Welcome

The Florida Association of Business Tax Officials, Inc. is a non-profit professional association meeting the educational and informational needs of municipal and county business tax officials throughout Florida. The organization was established in 1988 as the Florida Association of Occupational Licensing Officials, Inc. by the Bay Area Chapter. As statewide interest grew the Central Florida, Gold Coast, Big Bend, Palm Beach, and Treasure Coast Chapters were formed.

Effective January 2007 the Florida Legislature changed the name of Occupational Licenses to Local Business Taxes and in order to maintain consistency with the statutory changes , the Florida Association of Occupational Licensing Officials (FAOLO) changed its name to the Florida Association of Business Tax Officials (FABTO).

Our Mission

To provide a professional association where business tax officials may cooperate and consider matters of mutual concern, including the exchange of ideas and information among the municipalities and counties from throughout the state of Florida.

President's Welcome

Welcome to the Florida Association of Business Tax Officials, Inc. (FABTO). We’re glad you’re here. FABTO supports Florida business tax professionals through education and professional development, including our annual conference. Throughout the year, our local chapters also offer in-person or call-in meetings and host some workshops as well. These gatherings are a great way to connect with colleagues and share business tax information. For conference conversations, real-time updates, and opportunities to connect onsite, please use the Whova app—it’s our go-to place to ask questions, share ideas, and coordinate meetups.

It’s a privilege to serve as your President and to work with the FABTO Board of Directors. We’re here to support you—whether that means helping answer questions, listening to your concerns, or pointing you to helpful resources. Your involvement and feedback make a real difference, and we appreciate all you do to strengthen FABTO.

As we get closer to the conference, please keep an eye on the Whova app for newsletters, announcements about educational opportunities, and the latest conference updates. You’ll also find photos and highlights, along with discussion boards and networking tools to help you connect with other attendees and plan meetups during the conference.

I also encourage you to get involved with your local chapter and participate in FABTO activities when you can. We want to help you grow in your role as a business tax official, and you’re never on your own. Please feel free to reach out to any member of the state board or your local chapter board—we’re always happy to help.

I look forward to seeing you at the 38th Annual FABTO Conference in May.

Sincerely,
Angela Lester, MBTO
FABTO President
